The Role

This position provides day-to-day support within the Litigation Department, working closely with a team of lawyers and legal assistants. As an Embedded Litigation Legal Assistant, you will provide coverage and administrative support across the team, assisting with vacation and leave coverage, overflow work, special projects, and general litigation support.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide vacation and leave coverage for Litigation Legal Assistants.
• Assist lawyers and legal assistants with overflow work and special projects.
• Provide administrative support to articling students within the Litigation group.
• Manage calendars, schedule meetings, telephone conferences, and appointments with clients, experts, and opposing counsel.
• Coordinate travel arrangements and assist with meeting and event planning.
• Prepare, edit, proofread, and format correspondence, legal documents, memoranda, and emails.
• Maintain electronic and physical filing systems.
• Manage file organization, diarize key dates and limitation periods, and ensure deadlines are met.
• Perform a variety of administrative and clerical duties in support of the litigation team.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will bring:

• A Legal Assistant Diploma from an accredited post-secondary institution.
• A minimum of one year of litigation legal assistant experience.
• Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• A positive, collaborative attitude and a willingness to support teammates wherever needed.
• The ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• A high level of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality.
• Strong technical aptitude and confidence learning new technologies and legal software.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to think proactively and adapt to changing priorities.
• A commitment to continuous learning and delivering exceptional client service.
