Human Resources Manager *NEW*
Our esteemed client, a progressive and growing professional services firm, is seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager to join its downtown Calgary office. This position will support the organization’s Calgary, Toronto and Vancouver offices and report directly to the CEO.
This is an exciting opportunity for a strategic and hands-on HR professional who enjoys contributing to broader people and culture initiatives while remaining closely involved in day-to-day HR operations. The successful candidate will play an important role in aligning talent, organizational structure and HR programs with the firm’s continued growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for day-to-day HR matters, providing timely and practical guidance to employees and leadership.
- Partner with practice leaders to develop effective staffing models, role definitions, capacity targets and hiring plans.
- Regularly assess roles and workflow allocation to ensure employees are working at their highest and best use.
- Lead workforce planning and forecast staffing requirements in alignment with practice-area needs and the firm’s growth strategy.
- Oversee all aspects of employee onboarding and offboarding.
- Develop and manage structured onboarding and training programs, including repeatable processes and defined ramp-up goals for new employees.
- Build and maintain a strong talent pipeline and retention strategy to support the firm’s continued growth and acquisition plans.
- Work closely with the Management Committee to translate the firm’s vision and business plan into clear operational initiatives.
- Ensure employees understand how their individual roles contribute to the firm’s overall direction through regular communication, coaching and feedback.
- Oversee the annual performance-review process.
- Conduct salary benchmarking and support the development of competitive compensation and benefit programs across the Calgary, Toronto and Vancouver markets.
- Provide strategic input to senior leadership on organizational structure and people initiatives.
- Develop and maintain HR policies that comply with applicable employment, workplace health and safety, and regulatory requirements in each jurisdiction.
- Manage the HR budget and oversee the firm’s HRIS platform.
- Prepare reports for leadership regarding workforce trends, turnover, staffing and workflow.
- Support a broad range of additional administrative and human resources initiatives as required.
Qualifications
- At least five years of progressive human resources experience, including experience in an HR leadership or management capacity.
- Post-secondary degree, diploma or certificate from a recognized human resources program.
- CPHR designation, or equivalent, is considered an asset.
- Previous experience within a professional services environment—such as legal, accounting, engineering, dental, medical or architecture—is an asset.
- Experience working with an HRIS platform such as BambooHR, Rise or Humi.
- Strong knowledge of employment legislation, HR regulations and current best practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trusted relationships at all levels of an organization.
- A practical, collaborative and solutions-focused approach.
- The ability to balance strategic priorities with hands-on day-to-day responsibilities.
