Our client is a  successful, innovative and team-oriented law firm who is seeking a full-time Corporate Commercial Litigation Legal Assistant to join their dynamic and collaborative culture.  This role will perform a wide range of tasks which require strong communication, organization and time management skills. 

Essential Functions:

  • Prepare legal documents, letters, memos, simple pleadings, applications and other documents as required according to general precedents and instructions from legal professionals.
  • File management, including organizing and maintaining correspondence, files, trial binders, transcript binders, document binders and other components.
  • Coordinating service and filing.  This includes online filings of proceedings with agencies and courts.
  • Prepare simple Affidavits of Records with little supervision and more complex Affidavits of Records with supervision.
  • Work proactively in the day-to-day support of the practice including management of diary systems and databases to ensure important deadlines are met.
  • Use initiative and good judgement to relieve legal professionals of administrative detail including, but not limited to, accounting matters, invoicing and opening and closing of files.
  • Coordinate flow of documents between legal professionals, various internal and external individuals, and clients at all levels.
  • Provide excellent customer service while managing the client relationship including, but not limited to, client scheduling and correspondence.
  • File management including scanning, filing, and electronic filing of documentation.
  • Manage the calendars of the professionals including scheduling meetings and coordinating attendees.
  • Additional duties as assigned.


  • Legal Administrative Assistant Diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years' experience in the areas of business and commercial litigation.
  • Energetic, willing to learn, positive attitude.
  • Able to take direction and receive constructive feedback.
  • Editing and proof-reading skills, excellent reading comprehension.
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.  Experience with Eclipse, PCLaw, and/or Worldox considered a strong asset.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, meet unexpected and sometimes competing deadlines, and exhibit sound judgment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with other staff and professionals.
